The Mystery of Sock Yarn
-Epictetus
I got lucky and got new sock yarn in the mail. Hooray for contests! (This one from Lynne at Yarnivorous.)
So why am I so compelled to turn all these sock yarn scraps into something? It must be a personality thing . . .

I feel the same urge with the sock yarn scraps. I relish considering the possibilities. Over the weekend I made a pair of Saartje's Bootees (newborn size) out of two such scraps and was pleasantly surprised with the result. They don't look scrappy at all.
I understand the compulsion! So much so, that I have developed a pattern for using them for baby/kids sweater. I hope to get it posted soon, but if you want a test read/knit copy, I'll send you one.
I feel the same way! I gave away a bunch of my sock yarn scraps earlier this year but the collection seems to be building up again.
Hey, do let us know what you plan on doing with your scraps. I've got so much of sock yarn leftovers, but don't know what to do with it.
My sock yarn scraps basket has been staring me down lately too... it's not just you.
I have found a partial solution. I'm using my scraps to make the small learning socks in Cat Bordhi's new sock book. It's a perfect solution for me, at least for now.
Would love to see the baby sweater made from them. That sounds like a great idea.
I can't tell whether you're saying that you have plans to turn it into something specific, or that you just want to someday. Either way, let me know if you want me to send you my sock yarn scraps. :)
I know! I don't have nearly as much scrap as you but I'm hanging onto them in hopes I'll knit a scrap blanket someday!
I am totally the same way! I am currently making a scarf (which is not really turning out; too wide and I'm not convinced by the colors) just to use up some yarn. I think I may give up and frog it soon. Your sock yarn leftovers do look lovely.
