A Yarn Accident
Was it three days of uninterrupted shopping?

So I, uh, had a little yarn accident. There I was after work, innocently going to the post office to mail the prizes for last week's contest; there I was, getting rid of yarn from the house. And I happened to see on someone's blog that Michael's was having a sale on Paton's Classic Merino. And since I have a list of hats and mittens to knit (Hat's On and Folk Mittens) a mile long, I thought I'd go get some colors.
Oops. Turns out all the yarn was on sale. (My husband isn't reading this, is he?) I picked up some Soy Wool Stripes, since so many people have seemed to enjoy that so much, and a couple of balls of Sugar and Cream cotton. You can never have too much dishcloth cotton lying around. And good basic yarns rarely go on sale. So tell me this - you would have done the same thing, right?

Oooh! is the sale still on? I am sooo there! Don't feel bad, Teresa, any logical person, regardless of stash size, would have done the same thing.
darn, i forgot the "h" in your name. i really have to start previewing comments before posting...
BTW, i loved your Veterans' Day post. It made me cry.
Ah yes, I too am weak. Luckily (unluckily?) I don't have a Michael's nearby, so I had to settle for Spunky Eclectic's grand opening sale over the internet...
I love the SWS, the colors are wonderful.
Hey, I have a question: would that Sugar n Cream cotton make a nice "everyday" baby blanket? What cotton would you recommend?
Oh, nice. I love how your de-stashing contest was a fruitless endeavor! Folk Mittens, I love that book!!
I so totally would do the same thing and if I can find time today or tomorrow to get to Michael's I too might find some items to bring home!
You said Michael's is having a sale? on SWS no less... must. have. more. that yarn is so yummy... I'm heading over there right.now.
Of COURSE I would have done the same thing. In fact, do you happen to know when the sale ends? Is it going on in the stores here on the east coast as well? I have a good friend whom I have introduced to the joys of knitting, and it turns out she is allergic to wool. For non-wool yarns, there's almost no place as reliable as a big-box craft store like Michael's. I think I have a moral obligation . . . (right?)
I work in a yarn store where i get a discount and I bought some of the SWS on sale at Michaels. How could you not?
That's hilarious! I love how you describe it as a "yarn accident"! Hopefully, you can get it some of it out of the house (Christmas knitting) before your husband even realizes it was there....
Oh, you needn't justify to us. This is completely understandable. Anyone in your position would have done the same thing. ;)
It's hard to pass up a sale on yarn, specially when you know what it's going to turn into already.
Totally.
I would have and did on Sunday. *red faced*
Oh drat! I was trying to avoid Michaels this week because of that sale and now I must go!
Ha! I did do the same thing on a smaller scale and I may have to go back before the sale is over!! One never needs to justify getting more yarn.
I am bummed though that the Michaels here in Canada doesn't carry Sugar n' Cream anymore. Darn!
Sale?? I would be trying to figure out how to pay for it so hubby didn't see the total. (lol, feeling slightly guilty as i may be out of work for a month or so as i switch salons) But yes...i'd have done the same thing!! *smile* Beautiful colors!
Lol, we are chaperoning a trip with the french club into the city this afternoon and i am so trying to figure out how i could sneak into the yarn store just down the bloack from where we will be!
Yep, you had too!
BTW - Jeff Melvoin is my BIL's uncle!
I definitely HAVE done just that. I try to hide such things from the hubby for as long as possible. It's not the money really, just the fact that I don't really need any more yarn yet still find excuses to buy it.
Absolutely would have done the same thing. How could you not?
