A Scarlet Umbrella
and I remember one rainy morning in the city of Palermo,
the street was ablaze with scarlet umbrellas.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
It took Rachel coming all the way to San Diego (from Providence - I mean, almost as far apart as you can be and still be CONUS), it took that long trip for me to get around to showing you my Amazing Lace project. Two months after the official ending. Ahem. Moving on.
Peacock Feathers, in all her glory:
Can you see the mistakes? Not from that gallopping horse, right?
Peacock Feathers Shawl
Pattern: Peacock Feathers Shawl from Fiddlesticks Knitting
Yarn: JaegerSpun Zephyr in Ruby
Needles: Addi Turbos - US 5s?
Notes: This was a fabulous pattern, a yarn so wonderful I'm using it for the chuppah I'm making, and produces a gorgeous shawl. My only complaint? Do you see how huge it is?
Best Thing About This Pattern: It was looking through the Fiddlesticks web page that inspired the whole summer lace knitalong concept. And The Amazing Lace was fabulous fun, no matter how delinquent I was with my own knitting.
Feels good to be done with this one, let me tell you! But you know what feels better? See the beau's shadow in the photo above? Tomorrow is the first time in at least 2 months that we both have off on the same day and we have plans to make the most of it. I'll see you next week . . .

Applause, applause! Your Peacock Feathers is beautiful. I loved this pattern so much (it was my Amazing Lace project, too), that I have made it twice. And I have enough Zephyr in my stash for another shawl, but just can't make up my mind. Have fund on your day off!

Enjoy your day off together! And the shawl is absolutely fabulous.
Wow, Theresa - that is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! It's a fantastic color too! You make me want to knit one... NO! NO! Lace + infant = permanent UFO... *sigh*
The shawl is exquisite! Have a wonderful time with the Shadow.
Beautiful! I've had this shawl in my sights for a long time.
It is so lovely! And have a great time on that long anticipated joint day off!
What a beauty! Good work. Have fun tomorrow.

It looks fantastic! I will definitely keep in mind that no one will notice the "little" errors in Icarus once it's all done.
Wow - that's beautiful!
Have a great day with the beau :o)
The shawl is wonderful. It is my Amazing Lace pattern as well and I have stalled out on the 4th chart. Not for technical difficulties, not because I am not feeling the love, just life has gotten in the way of lace knitting. Hopefully that will change soon and I can cross "knitting a honking big lace shawl from yarn finer than dental floss" off my to-do list.
Looks gorgeous! I think the size thing is from the pattern...mine turned out huge too.
Beautiful! I just love your Peacock Feathers!
Just gorgeous. Color, pattern, everything. Have a great weekend!
The shawl is stunning. Simply beautiful.
i love it!! i love the size, too, although it must have taken forever ;)
Holy COW that is absolutely stunning! I bow in awe of your laceabilities.
Gorgeous, Theresa!!!
Did you really knit it on 5s with the Zephyr--was it doubled? I'm knitting my Leda's Dream with Zephyr on Addi 1s!!!
Have a great weekend with The Beau ;o)
Looooooooovely! It looks fab in red, so unexpected! Hope you both had an awesome day off.
Just lovely!
But why is the size a complaint?
The shawl is gorgeous! I look at a lot of lace shawls and admire them, but looking at yours make me want to actually knit it. It's just fabulous. Great job.
Beautiful!
Wow! It is lovely! I've ordered the pattern for myself, but it is taking forever to get here. Not that I have anything else to knit right now, you understand.....
Have a wonderful time with the boy tomorrow!
It looks great! and no flaws.
Oooh, a ALL DAY together? With no work? Shoo! Have fun!
As I find I'm nearly always on a galloping horse, I rarely notice the mistakes in anyone's knitting.
Peacock Feathers looks spectacular, of course. I hope you think you'll get some use out of it in spite of its size and it not being your color (or did you say you were going to gift it?). I'm not sure why I'm getting credit for prompting you finally to post it, but I'm glad you did, whatever the reason. And so closeth the Book of the Amazing Lace.
So beautiful, great work! I love that Ruby colorway!
Hey, Theresa! I'm the Anonymous blogger in that last comment, but I don't mean to be anonymous. Anyway, I love the shawl. Sooooo beautiful!
Your shawl is beautiful!
